2024 exhibitors

We might be biased (slightly!) but we think the 2024 line-up is the perfect blend of yarny types, and we can’t wait!

80 SKEINS

80 Skeins is a small online shop, but the selection of yarn here will please every person who admires real wool. First of all, the shop stocks Latvian wool Dundaga.  It is quite rustic yarn, dyed in small batches, which makes it very unique. One can easily fall in love with this magical, colourful wool, where colours change like a kaleidoscope! There is soft mohair to be found there too. It can be beautifully knitted on its own or can compliment Dundaga with an airy softness. 80 Skeins is a shop to go to buy Icelandic Lopi, not only the most popular Lettlopi, but lace weight Einband as well. Last but not least, the shop has all colours of Lykke needles – to match your project!

ALDERSIGN DESIGNS

At AlderSign Designs I like to design for the modern crafter and create signature designs that use modern techniques, flattering shapes and have a spark of something fun and interesting – usually with a geeky twist! Sometimes I design cute and fun amigurumi too. I sell knit and crochet patterns, amigurumi kits and teach knit and crochet techniques. I have self-published three books: An Elven Reckoning, Beautiful Knits for Beautiful Sticks and Winter Blooms. My patterns have been published in Knitting, Knit Now!, The Crochet Project,  Knitty.com and in Bespoke book by Baa Ram Ewe and Rowan Yarns. In 2018 I was awarded new designer of the year by Knit Now! magazine.

Dina’s Home of Crafts has been an awesome adventure beginning in August 2014.  Behind the neatly stacked shelves of luxurious yarns, fibre and all sorts of accessories stands Dina, a rather shy girl from Latvia. If you are looking for advice for what works best for your project, she is the person to go to.  Her life has always been filled with unravelling balls of yarn and needles. She is not afraid of colours and always comes up with bold and exciting colour combinations. Her work is greatly inspired by her roots in Eastern Europe. She takes pride in working with yarn and fibre coming from mulesing free sources. She offers a wide variety of products, which are on every knitters or crocheters wish list. Lykke, HiyaHiya, Knitpro, Muud, Knitting Barber and Dharma are just a fraction of brands on her shelves…  While her needles and hooks flashes away creating yet another project, she has in her mind it is not the only of her talents. She also makes a wonderful selection of project bags and cute little stitch markers, they are a must have for everyone. Dina loves experimenting and since 2018 has started designing and publishing patterns too. The most exciting news is that there will be a new pattern release at the show. For now, it is kept as a secret and will be revealed shortly before the show.

Tools can be fun and still work perfectly. And mine are designed from an understanding of how they need to work because I knit, crochet,  sew, which is important when designing something meant to work.

needle and fred

Hand-dyed deliciously British yarns that spark the fire in your creative soul. If you like a high fibre diet with a healthy side of puns, give us a purl!

Colourways are carefully created, favouring deeply layered tonals and curated variegated styles, in a moody, muted yet vibrant palette. If you know the feeling of walking into a craft shop and internally going oooh, that is what we aspire to create.

Our ethos goes beyond just making pretty things. Supporting British wool is a core value, with Bluefaced Leicester yarns a staple for Needle & Fred. Our new 150g Big BFL offers great value for money, we are also delighted to now be dyeing a scrumptiously squishable non-superwash base blending BFL & Masham, spun locally in Yorkshire. Alongside the delightful squishy stuff, you’ll also find a selection of goods that her creative technical and design background allows Libby to dabble in. This includes hand-printed tote bags, stitch markers, knitting jewellery and customisable wooden sock blockers.

Libby started Needle & Fred company in 2018 when Repetitive Strain Injury (RSI) prevented her from knitting and most other crafts, allowing her to remain connected to the creative fibre community.

Alongside our fun persona, having experienced first hand the impact, we strive to advocate and support crafters experiencing disabilities and mental health, and to be an inclusive accessible small business. As a member of the LGBTQ+ community and being a neurodiverse maker, ensuring trade shows align with these values is important, everyone is welcome as long as they welcome everybody.

Tine and Floyd

Tine is a hand spinner and indie dyer and passionate about all things sheepy and woolly (and about Border Collies). Part of her wool comes from farms where she trains her Border Collie, Floyd. She enjoys blending fibres in batts which are suitable for spinning and felting. Some of her yarns are hand spun by her and she also undertakes spinning and dyeing commissions. Tine and Floyd are dealers for SpinOlution wheels and sell a variety of Turkish spindles, dealgans, niddy noddies, spindle support bowls, nostepinnes and knitting kits. She also writes knitting patterns and teaches spinning and continental style knitting.

Oh my, where to start! I’ve learned spinning from my godmother’s mother when I was 5 and at the same time I learned knitting in school (in the art classes 🙂 ). Since then, I basically never stopped. I fell properly in love with sheep as a teenager and spent holidays shepherding in Hessen (with German Shepherds). So some years ago I turned my livelong wool hobby into my new business and I’ve never really looked back. I’m doing European shows as well (with a bit of difficulty after Brexit!) and I like the insight into different “national” preferences re colour, yarn blends etc. – I’m selling SpinOlution wheels and the related products and wooden hand spinning related items that a Hertfordshire based wood turner produces for me. I’m also selling spinning and knitting kits, and hand dyed and hand spun yarn. Apart from that, I’m selling all sorts of spinning fibre as rovings or batts, some of them are vegan blends.

Treble Maker Designs

Treble Maker Designs offers a pick’n’mix of stitch markers. With over 100 different designs to choose from, there’s something for everyone. We also sell stickers, postcards, and other yarny accessories, where you’ll likely find a pun or two.

Vegan Yarn

Based in South Yorkshire and established in 2019, VeganYarn.co.uk offer a range of plant-based, sustainably and ethically sourced fibres.

Our journey began from a love of indie dyed yarn, and a frustration of only being able to find it in animal based fibres. Of course there’s a lot of dyers offering cotton or bamboo bases alongside their woolly offerings, but we wanted to shop completely vegan…and so veganyarn.co.uk was born.

We source sustainable, ethical, and where possible, recycled fibres. We only use vegan products in our dying process and are opposed to the use of plastics both in our yarn and our packaging.

Offering plant base hand dyed yarns and fibres – including Cotton, bamboo, seaweed, tencel, nettle, pineapple and hemp!

Velvet Sixpence

Velvet Sixpence is synonymous with vibrant and unapologetic colour. Our rainbow wall of hand dyed fibre features a huge range of intense semi-solid and tonal colourways with something to suit every taste.

We also know that the way a fibre spins is as important as how it looks. We select our fibre bases carefully for their unique characteristics, with a dozen different hand dyed breeds and blends to choose from, as well as our exclusive blend collections. We try to combine affordable luxury with a great spinning experience.

We aim to be straightforward, inclusive, and approachable to our customers. We have a reputation for providing a great customer experience at shows, and we love listening to peoples’ experiences, celebrating their achievements with them, and sharing our expertise to help them choose materials for their next project.
